Used GoPro HERO12 vs HERO13 Black in India: Is the ₹5,000 Gap Worth It?
By Playloot Team · Oct 16, 2026
A used GoPro HERO12 Black costs ₹21,999 and a used HERO13 Black costs ₹26,999 on Playloot in October 2026. For most people the HERO12 is the better buy: it records the same 5.3K60 and 4K120 video with the same HyperSmooth stabilisation. The extra ₹5,000 for the HERO13 makes sense in two cases: you need built-in GPS, or you want GoPro's new magnetic mounts and HB-series lens mods. The details are below.

What's the Same
For everyday shooting, like bike rides, treks, travel vlogs and pool or beach footage, the two cameras produce almost identical results. Both have:
- The same 1/1.9-inch sensor and GP2 processor
- 5.3K at 60fps and 4K at 120fps, with 10-bit colour and HDR video
- HyperSmooth 6.0 stabilisation with Horizon Lock
- Waterproofing to 10 metres without a housing
- Front and rear screens and the same overall size
What the HERO13 Adds for ₹5,000 More
- GPS is back. The HERO12 dropped GPS, so it can't add speed, altitude or route overlays to your footage. If you ride, run or drive and want those stats, this alone justifies the HERO13.
- A bigger battery. The HERO13's 1,900 mAh Enduro battery runs longer per charge. It is not interchangeable with HERO12 batteries, so spares you already own won't carry over.
- Magnetic latch mounting. The HERO13 supports GoPro's magnetic latch mounts alongside the standard folding fingers, which helps if you swap between helmet, chest and handlebar often.
- HB-series lens mods. The Ultra Wide, Macro, Anamorphic and ND filter mods are made for the HERO13, and the camera detects them automatically.
- Faster slow motion and transfers. The HERO13 adds higher frame-rate Burst Slo-Mo modes and faster Wi-Fi for copying files to your phone.
Which One Should You Buy?
- Choose the HERO12 at ₹21,999 if you want the best GoPro image quality for the least money and don't need GPS. It is the value pick, especially if you already own HERO12 batteries or mounts.
- Choose the HERO13 at ₹26,999 if you want GPS data on your videos, plan to buy lens mods, or want the longest runtime per battery.
If you aren't set on GoPro, two other cameras in our stock are worth comparing at this budget. The DJI Osmo Action 4 Adventure Combo at ₹22,999 has a larger 1/1.3-inch sensor that does better in low light, and the combo includes extra batteries. The Insta360 X3 at ₹19,999 is a 360-degree camera: you can choose the framing after you've shot. Our GoPro vs DJI vs Insta360 guide explains how the three brands differ.
What to Check on a Used GoPro
- Lens cover. Look for scratches or haze on the removable lens cover. A scratched cover shows up as soft or blurry patches in video. Replacement covers are cheap, but check the lens underneath too.
- Battery swelling. The battery should slide out freely. A swollen battery is a safety risk and needs replacing.
- Record a test clip at 5.3K or 4K120. Record for a few minutes. Check that the camera doesn't overheat or shut down early and that the file plays back cleanly.
- Door seals. Check that the battery and USB door closes firmly and its rubber seal isn't torn, then test the camera in shallow water before your first dive.
- Not linked to the seller's account. Ask the seller to remove the camera from their GoPro Quik app. If you can't pair it, do a factory reset from the camera's settings.
